mermaid hair // my little pony
So this is how it turned out. I feel like a barbie thats been attacked by a 4 year old with a marker pen. But I like it. I very much resemble a 'My Little Pony' doll I was fond of back in the day when hair was just a hindrance with it's nit alluring ways.
Surprisingly this felt tip attack was easy...too easy because now I just want to add more and more colour and i'll no doubt end up looking like the end of a toilet brush.
I'd seen this coloured tips look plastered over tumblr but all the girls had super long hair (those bitches...) and instead of wasting time and money on yet more extensions (which I fucking hate wearing anyway) I thought fuck it, ima do it on my page boy haircut and make it work. And I guess it did in some fucked up disney princess way. So in the words of Pocahontas 'can you paint the colours of the wind?' - No Poca you can't, but you can paint the colours of the rainbow in your hair.

it's christmas time
So it's christmas eve. A day that should be spent with friends and family getting excited about tomorrows tasty turkey trimmings and feeling up the presents under the tree playing the guessing game because lets be honest, no one likes a surprise. I however, unlike theses sensible human beings I speak of, have spent the morning with my head hung over the toilet vomming up a combination of strawberry sambuca (WHY!?) and rum. As I write this I am patiently waiting for my parents to go on their traditional christmas country walk so I can vom some more in peace without my mother yellin at me through the bathroom door how 'silly I am' and how alcohol clearly 'doesn't agree with me'. To an extent, she has a point. So here I am, trying to keep the vom down until the coast is clear, feeling sorry for myself.
Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you're all enjoying your day. I'm not. Bah Humbug!

best friends are like sisters
So you know your friend has good taste in clothes when she comes to pick you up for a night out and you're wearing the same outfit! Yes this did actually happen with me and my home girl Sam.
When she turned up at my door step we both couldn't help but laugh at how similarly dressed we were. Some girls would be annoyed, not wanting to hit the town dressed in identical clothing to their best friend, worried that people would be thinking 'why are they dressed the same? Did they do that on purpose? Thats pathetic...' but if anything, having Sam turn up in a similar short and top combo to mine reassured me that what I was wearing was appropriate for the evening. If anything it made the evening more enjoyable because we had something to laugh about the whole night! (an example: telling everyone me met we were sisters - everyone believed us)
So also as you can see in the photo I bought THE shoes! :D the lush black River Island boots I mentioned in a previous post. They are super comfy and ideal for any season. Can't wait to match them with some skinny jeans when the winter months roll on by.
The shorts are new too, Levi black ripped highwaisted from eBay. I've wanted some for so long now, and having a job has allowed me to finally buy some of the clothes on my wish list that is forever expanding. My next wish list item is Dr Martens in Cherry or Black... have yet to decide which colour! Knowing me I will probably give in to buying both.

trip to my second home
After my family visit to Poole, I decided that seeing as I didn't have work for another 5 days, that a trip to Southampton was definitely necessary. As much as I love being home in Hertford for the Summer, I have missed my friends and the freedom of living as a student. And of course, heading back to soton means a night out (or 3) is always on the cards...
family time
So it's fair to say I've had a pretty jam packed week this week. Took the weekend off work to travel down to the sea side resort of Bournemouth, where my loving grandparents reside in a beautiful penthouse apartment which over looks Poole harbor. My family and I had made the two and a half hour car journey on a sunny Saturday morning to visit and celebrate my Grandfathers 80th birthday. It wasn't until we were all sat around the dining room table laughing and discussing the various events that had occurred in each of our lives over past weeks, that it really hit me how old 80 is. I mean, i'm only 20 years old and I can't remember what I was like when I was 10, so does this mean when I'm 30 I won't remember who I am now? If you really think about it, life is hard. And if you live to see yourself at the grand old age of 80 or 60 or even 40, you should be incredibly proud of yourself. Because as young as 20 is, the older I get, the harder life is becoming. With age comes responsibility, and lets be honest, no one wants to be responsible. We're all big kids at heart (well at least I am) I just hope that if I follow in my grandfathers footsteps and reach the big 8.0. that I can remember what it was like to be 20 and how easy life really was.

d.i.y pink ombre hair
I really like how it turned out, very subtle yet noticeable, contemplating taking the pink slightly higher up my hair and making the colour more intense, especially as the dye I used is only a semi-permenant which will fade after a lot of wear and tear. But for my first attempt at ombre-ing I'd say it went well! Kimmy loves it (my mother) which I was VERY surprised about as she is the definition of 'straight edge' (doesn't drink/smoke/swear - I often wonder if I was adopted) so if it's got kimmy's approval i'm a happy gal.
Technique:
-The way I did this will only work if you have naturally blonde or highlighted hair, or if like me, you have blonde extensions. If you're hair is darker blonde or brown, you most probably will have to bleach the ends of your hair first to an achieve an intense colour*.
-Once you've chosen a colour you wish to ombre your hair with [[ http://www.lariche.co.uk/directions-hair-colour/ ]] < have a great rage of colours to choose from, but I wouldn't buy from this exact website, it's alot cheaper and easier to search on ebay which is what I did and it only cost me about £4 including postage!
-Using gloves or a tint brush (or if like me your lazy and don't give a shit about your skin, you hands**) to apply the dye to the ends of the extensions/yourhair:
| Leave the hair to dry for as long as the dye says (la riche is 15mins) |
| After 15 mins, wash with warm water, shampoo if you wish, and brush through |
-Then blow dry the hair on a low warm heat and style however you wish.
& there you have it! ombre hair :]
*Please be aware bleaching your hair damages it ALOT I know from experience when once upon a time I thought bleaching my whole head of hair would be a good idea... it wasn't.
**However I don't advise this!

pink ombre
I recently came across this stunning image via tumblr and it's made me really want to ombre my hair pink! The only problem with this punky plan is that my hair length is far too short for it to look any good. My head would resemble that of a liquorice allsort (a two-toned square) and therefore my dreams of having 'cool hair' are crushed until my barnet grows.
However...I have hair extensions!
So the plan is to do a pink strand test on the extenies, and hoping all goes well, I soon too could be sporting the ombre fashion trend. wish me luck!
shoes glorious shoes
I've always been shoe obsessed. I generally think shoes complete an outfit, and it's kind of a shame really because it's rare anyone ever compliments another on their choice footwear (especially men).
I'm not sure I could date a guy that wore bad shoes. I mean feet are not exactly the most attractive part of the human body, but surely this should entice us to dress them in pretty shoes to hide the monstrosity underneath? (again, especially men)
I recently took a high street shopping trip with my sister and here are a few of my personal fave bad boy shoes than need to get into my life and onto my feet:

The L Word
LOVE:
The big L.
The word that everyone wants to hear. A four letter word that, to some extent, makes our fragile little world go round.
I can honestly say I've never been in love. Loved, yes but actually in love with another living soul, no.
'Theres no difference!' I hear you bellow from those love infected lungs of yours. Well, in my opinion there is.
Of course I have loved, I still do love many. My family, close friends, perhaps an ex lover or two (even if my in-denial self refuses to admit it out loud) they all have a hold on that part of the brain where affection and pain lie. Pain? Yes pain. If anything love is good at it's causing pain. Love is having such strong feelings of happiness and joy in the presence of another person, that when they are taken away from you, or betray you, or upset you, nothing in the world could be as physically or mentally painful.
Being in love of course holds these same emotions, except the love is reciprocation. If you're in love, you are in some kind of loving relationship where by you love someone an equal amount as they love you. You're like magnets. An invisible force of feelings and energy connect you two together in a way that no one around you understands. Not even others in love. Because everyone's love story is different. If you're in a relationship where you feel you love tho other person more than they love you, then you are not in love. You just love.
That's my philosophy anyway.

loving life
I am officially employed! The interview went well and he offered me a job there and then! I feel so fortunate to have got it, the thought of having to continue with the job hunt makes me nauseous. Whats even better about having a job, is having one that i actually like! It's so much fun being a Bar-gal! It's a cocktail bar so i've got to learn a billion different cocktail recipes, which is kind of long but i'm excited & determined to learn them all within 2 weeks. It wasn't until i got this job that i realised how many cocktails there actually are! I mean i had heard of a few, you know your stereotypical holiday cocktails such as 'sex on the beach', 'screaming orgasm' & 'bloody mary' (which quite frankly sounds bloody disgusting) but now i'm learning recipes for 'mojito-lycheeto's' & 'singapore sling's'. (yeah i don't have a fucking clue whats in them either)
Never the less I am looking forward to a few months time when I am a cocktail master and i can juggle glasses off my face and catch bottles with my chest.

the only way is up
I got a job interview! woohoo! So if my fluency in bullshit and bum licking will suffice, I should get the job. It's a bar job which is right up my street seeing as I spend most of my free time around alcoholic beverages. So cross all your fingers and toes for me ladies and gents, as this gal needs money.
Talking about fingers and toes, check out these bad boys:

oh yeah, I went there
I'm a girl obsessed:

Check me out, the now master of friendship bracelets!
...Moving on.
So today was another day of job hunting and playing with wool however with the added bonus of going to the cinema this evening with my lovely mother Kimmy. We went on a mother daughter adventure to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean film, which I must say was very good. Better than the last two and on par with the first film although not as funny. But if like me Johnny Depp is who you think about when you're having sex with an ugly person then you should definitely go see it just to see his gorgeous face as Captain Jack.

fuck gold i'm a platinum digger
So it's been some time since I wrote on this poor lonesome blog of mine. To be honest thats because my life has become some what of a bore. I am currently back home with the 'rents and in the process of looking for a summer job so I can afford the party lifestyle I live instead of letting Mr Overdraft pay for it. But like every man, he soon got fed up of me living out of his pocket, leaving me with no choice but to get a job like every other un-spoilt brat on this planet.
So, I have spent much of my day and evening emailing various companies who probably won't even glance at my CV, in hope that one hopeless soul feels sorry for me and employs me. However considering two months ago I applied for McDonalds and have heard nothing since, my hopes for any form of employment are not particularly high.
Anyway, so as I am currently unemployed and now poor, there is very little for me to do with myself. There is only so much Jeremy Kyle & Loose Women a girl can watch, and so I have taken up a few hobbies. One being reading (which I will blog about another time) and the other making friendship bracelets. Yes i'm well aware it sounds lame and childish, but I have the concentration span of a small child, so playing with coloured wool and making pretty patterns with it is highly entertaining for a simple gal like me.
However, since starting this childish hobby of mine a matter of days ago, I fear It may soon transform into an uncontrollable obsession. And heres why.....

(don't judge me I did warn you I'm a big kid)
I generally thing this is the coolest thing I have ever seen in my life.
And so to save me from unemployment related boredom, I intend to make a home made version of this square of doom using cardboard, and after some time I will have an army of friendship bracelets to which I will carry and give away freely like an old man with toffees.
...Someone please employ me.
